About Tagaytay
Tagaytay - A City Of Character
One of the Safest Cities in the Philippines
Perched 2,500 feet above sea level, at the highest point of the province of Cavite, the City of Tagaytay has long attracted visitors for its cool mountain breeze, paradise gardens and the magnificent view to that phenomenon of a “Lake-Volcano-Lake” called Taal.
Most recently, however, a new transition can be noticed in the local government and within the community itself, that could probably attract more tourists to this city that’s only next-door to Manila. Used to be, Tagaytay seemed a distant town, but now, 53 kilometers don’t feel so far, with new highways and improved routes, linking the city closer to Manila.
Incumbent Mayor Francis N. Tolentino now envisions Tagaytay to become a “City of Character” through “re-indoctrination” of the good old Filipino values that have been forgotten through time. The natural endowments which make this city so popular can only be complemented by a community with “character” – good ones, at that.
Tagaytay is one of the most peaceful cities in the country. A crime efficiency rating of 93.85 percent as well as recognitions from various institutions for its environment maintenance projects, stamps the city’s claim to being one of the “hottest cities” of the year, as dubbed by the local magazine Graphic.
